Atlantic cod is one of the healthiest and easiest to prepare fish you can choose to eat. It’s naturally low in mercury, and rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids. When cooked, its high moisture, translucent color flesh turns to a dense, flaky white flesh.

Because it is flash-frozen at sea at the peak of its freshness, frozen Atlantic Cod is a perfect, protein-packed, low-fat go-to you can treat yourself and your family to year-round.

While there are a number of safe ways to thaw frozen fish, by far, the best approach to preserve its flavor and consistency is to thaw it for 18-24 hours in the refrigerator.

Remove the Atlantic Cod from its packaging and put it onto a plate or shallow pan to catch any liquid at least 8-10 hours before you plan to cook it, and preferably overnight.

    This was by far the freshest Cod I have had in a long time. It arrived well packed. I thawed it out as indicated and the freshness of the Cod was amazing. We had fish and chips that night and it was excellent. Will definitely purchase again.

    After thawing overnight in my refrigerator, I baked the cod filet in the oven at 400 degrees for 13 minutes. Since I live at almost 3,000 feet above sea level, I added an extra minute to the recommended cooking time. I seasoned the cod with freshly squeezed lemon juice, sea salt, a very light dusting of cayenne pepper, and parsley flakes and topped that with 3 small pads of butter. After removal from the oven I gave the cod another fresh squeeze of lemon juice. The fish was absolutely delicious, flaky and moist and it melted in my mouth. I’m so glad that I purchased the 2 lb bag and am already looking forward to my next meal. I highly recommend this most scrumptious fish from City Pier Seafood and will definitely be ordering more in the future.
