While there are a number of safe ways to thaw frozen fish, by far, the best approach to preserve its flavor and consistency is to thaw it for 18-24 hours in the refrigerator.
Remove the Atlantic Cod from its packaging and put it onto a plate or shallow pan to catch any liquid at least 8-10 hours before you plan to cook it, and preferably overnight.
